Facebook’s Vice President of Product Management Matt Cohler is set to leave the company and join Benchmark Capital as a General Partner. Cohler joined Facebook all the way back in 2005 and was one of the company’s first five employees.
Mark Zuckerberg had this to say about the departure:
“Matt is a valuable member of our team and one of our earliest executives. He has been an important contributor to Facebook’s growth and success and we are pleased he will continue working in a formal role as a special advisor to me and the Facebook management team.”
The move comes at an important time for Facebook on the product side – they are set to launch their re-designed profiles shortly, and are hosting their second annual developer conference next month. It also marks yet another departure of an early Facebook executive – CTO Adam D’Angelo parted ways with the company back in May.
