I never thought this would happen so fast! According to Digitimes News, HTC is now the second largest smartphone vendor in India, the largest vendor, still being Nokia, with a market share of over 90%.
Of course, HTC’s market share is can be easily represented by a single digit
but still, HTC is ahead of other manufacturers like Sony Ericsson, Research in Motion (RIM), Motorola and others.
HTC tied up with India’s leading mobile operator, Airtel, last year, to introduce the HTC Touch (P3450) in this country. Thereafter, HTC has also formed a strategic alliance with another leading mobile operator (CDMA), Reliance, for sale of CDMA handsets.
Over the past one year, HTC devices (especially P3400) have become very popular in the highly price conscious market of India. Also (according to the grapevine), HTC has plans to launch the already popular HTC Touch Diamond in India, in the coming two months.
