question:

i went into the bios and changed the colour and during start up they were orange no problem but as soon as windows boots up they change back to dimond(white) is there somewhere this setting could be in windows itself that is overriding the bios?

answer:

On the XPS 720 the lights should be able to be adjusted in Windows. The program that will adjust the lights in Windows is the Dell QuickSet program. The icon for this program should be in the bottom right of the Taskbar. Once the program is opened it will have tabs for "LED Control" and "LED Effects". Both of these tabs will be the controls for the lights.
If for some reason the system does not have Dell QuickSet installed it can be downloaded from one of these links:
Windows Vista 32-bit: http://support.dell.com/support/download...
Windows XP 32-bit: http://support.dell.com/support/download...
I hope this helps.
