When you speak of another search engine making its way to the scene, you probably remind yourself of Cuil and say there’s nothing better than Google and that by every means is true. But what if you could have a search engine that boasts nothing save for humbly claiming that it restricts results to only what it has been designed for? I wouldn’t mind that at all and therefore I found RefSeek pretty usable, a search engine dedicated to provide search results related to the academic and research side of the web. It’s simple, neat and fetches results associated to the educational aspect of search.

I tried to search for Stars purely to get results associated with the Universe at both Google and at RefSeek. Google was of course the winner, but the results it gave sported, Dallas and MySpace Stars (something I was least interested in) along with encyclopedia and other websites focused on star. RefSeek on the other hand was bang on target. So Google can never be replaced, but RefSeek can very well be my search engine for academic searches.
