I've been playing with the beta of the new app from Intermorphic, Mixtikl.

I've been running Mixtikl on a Treo 750 (since this morning)! and it has been an amazing first look at this app. In face, calling it an application isn't really appropriate, it is more of a suite of applications all working together.

The current applications are:

Mixtikl Remixer
Create, EQ and save a quick mix from up to 12 user selectable sound sources/loops, and apply FX.
Mixtikl Performer
Create a more complex cell based mix with up to 12 tracks and four sections, and easily apply per track FX, pan and volume.
Mixtikl Player
Create and play a track list of mixes, pieces (including generative music pieces) and recordings you have or have made.
Mixtikl Partikl
Edit Partikl synth sounds and patches directly, and create presets; create custom DLS wavetables; bundle Ogg/Wav files, MIDI files, Noatikl files and other content together into a self contained "Mixtikl" file; create/edit Partikl FX and networks directly, and create FX presets.

There is a huge amount of depth in this application (or suite), and even after using them and navigating around you can tell that it is going to take a lot of time to get into the depths of the suite.

Of course the Windows Mobile side is only part of the equation. There are desktop applications for both Windows and Mac including VST and AU plug ins.

Over the next few days (or probably more than just a few to be honest) I'll be navigating around the different parts of Mixtikl to give you more a flavour of how it works and what you can expect from it when it launches in the next week or so.

Olin College of Engineering, she frequently gets pressure from faculty and staff to integrate Apple computers into the Needham, Mass.-based school’s environment. But until manageability tools become more readily available for the Mac, Kossuth says her answer will remain “no.”

“Enterprise management tools are a critical piece that I don’t think Apple has addressed well enough. They’ve got a long way to go to provide the consistency and supportability that Microsoft offers with Windows,” Kossuth says. The Windows Vista environment she’s ultimately planning to roll out allows her to automate configurations, deployments, updates, and patches. Such centralized controls are critical to supporting users and meeting compliance demands without increased staffing, Kossuth says.

A critical flaw in the October 2008 security patch, MS08-067, has been exploited by the Win32/ConfickerA worm.

The Microsoft Malware Protection Center Blog stated that the number of attacks have increased during the past week, mostly effecting corporations and users based in the U.S., Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, China, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, and Chile. .

It opens a random port between port 1024 and 10000 and acts like a Web server. It propagates to random computers on the network by exploiting MS08-067. Once the remote computer is exploited, that computer will download a copy of the worm via HTTP using the random port opened by the worm. The worm often uses a .JPG extension when copied over and then it is saved to the local system folder as a random named dll, the posting said.

But there is a positive side to the malware itself, that it does not allow other malware to sneak-in while its there. Here’s Microsoft’s statement.

It is also interesting to note that the worm patches the vulnerable API in memory so the machine will not be vulnerable anymore. It is not that the malware authors care so much about the computer as they want to make sure that other malware will not take it over too.

I think the malware authors should definitely be hired by Microsoft quickly, at least they know how care for the users security!!!

    But jokes aside I think its great that Development team releases security patches and updates even though WordPress 2.7 is not far off from final release. Simply have to recognize those guys for their dedication to helping us keep our blogs secure. WordPress 2.6.5 while being a security update will not apply to everyone but to be on safe side - it is better to upgrade and in this post I want to discuss 2 methods I have personally tested: Automatic Upgrade and Incremental Upgrade (files provided)

    WordPress Automatic Upgrade

    While 2.7 should bring us the option to upgrade core directly from the blog itself as integrated option - right now is can be done only via Superb Plugin I have been using for quite a while and highly recommend to all who read this blog

    Once again this plugin worked flawlessly and I managed to upgrade a few of my blogs using step-by-step process provided by the plugin. All customers of Web 2.0 Wealth and Expert WordPress products should have this plugin and it is safe to use!

    Incremental Upgrade

    WordPress 2.6.5 includes couple security fixes and a few bug fixes which I’m not going to discuss here as Peter Westwood done a superb job on it already. This update also doesn’t include database update so it Incremental Update is as simple as uploading appropriate files to your blog and replacing existing files with it.

    You can grab package I created for myself and tested on my blogs. I already placed files into the directories they need to go on your host. So if you feel that you can trust me - download the incremental update files here and then upload them to your blog.
